On September 19th Wyndmere School will be welcoming Steve Porter's Trophy Whitetail Traveling Exhibition. Steve travels around the upper midwest in the Fall to various schools and we are lucky enough to be welcoming him to our school.
Steve, along with some pretty big whitetail bucks, will be here to teach our students about the deer and the outdoors in an effort to increase interest in students being active in the outdoors and conservation. The public is more than welcome to stop by in the afternoon to catch a glimpse at the deer. Check out the following link to learn more about Steve's deer! Another year is off and running! Things are off to a great start in the halls here at Wyndmere School. The beginning of the year is always a special time in the life of an educator. The enthusiasm is at a very high level and the vibe around the school is very infectious. The building has changed and sometimes the staff has changed. The students are older, taller and often in their new school clothes.
However, the most interesting thing I always anticipate is the arrival of the new kindergarten students. The experience of watching students come to school for the first time is always an enjoyable one for me. While there are sometimes one or two youngsters who shed a tear or two, most of the kids are very wide eyed and spend that first week taking in so many new experiences. It is the start of a 13 year journey that flies by faster than people want to admit. Those kids have just stepped onto a roller coaster that will take them through so many highs, lows, twists and turns. It is an incredible journey and one that we as educators get to watch first hand. To all of the other students who are different stages of the roller coaster, let's have a great year. Work hard, but also enjoy the ride. There are so many great experiences to draw from during your time in school. Learning interesting things, participating in activities and forging lifelong friendships are just a few of the countless things to do at school. As I told the seniors the other day, let's have a year we can look back on an be very |
