Earlier this year, I spoke to staff about incorporating 21st Century skills in to most of what we do here at Holdingford. Specifically the skills of critical thinking, communication, collaboration, citizenship, creativity, and character are vital to ensuring our students will be successful upon leaving our halls after graduation.
In the last month, Jill Schmitt, Holdingford tech integrationist, has led the charge of creating a Makerspace in the elementary media center. You may ask what is a Makerspace? Here is a short YouTube video that describes one person's view of it.

Makerspaces are about creating, collaborating, thinking critically, and communicating with others as you explore. This will be a great avenue for our kids to grow in these skills while having a lot of fun with each other. I am very excited to have Holdingford Elementary lead the way on this endeavor and hope this creates a great deal of excitement with our students. More information is yet to come, but if you are interested in helping out in our endeavor, please click on the link below to learn about materials that can be donated to the cause.
